Plum Village Monastery in France was the first monastic practice center founded by Thich Nhat Hanh in the West. It is where Thich Nhat Hanh developed his iconic light and gentle style of mindfulness practice that is now familiar around the world. We cultivate a kind of mindfulness that doesn’t take a lot of effort and can bring peace and joy right away. Plum Village mindfulness is also firmly grounded in ethics and in “interbeing”—the understanding that there is a deep interconnection between all people, all species, and all things.
The Plum Village tradition is now practiced and taught through eleven official monastic practice centers which house over 00 monastics and 1,275 local Sanghas (communities of practitioners) meeting on 6 continents. Knowing that community is the most helpful support for practice, we encourage you to join us. You may also like to visit one of our practice centers. (From The Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation Website)
We at Peach Blossom Sangha are a small group of friends who study and practice the Buddha’s teachings on mindfulness and meditation. Mindfulness practice can be an effective tool to bring us peace, solidity, and non-fear in all times, times of stability and times of upheaval. We aspire to live every moment deeply and compassionately.
While practicing in the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism, we recognize and respect the value of all branches of Buddhism and all spiritual traditions as the heritage of humankind.
