Our life has to be our message. The mind can go in one thousand directions but on this beautiful path, I walk in peace. With each step the wind blows. With each step a flower blooms. -Thich Nhat Hanh
We meet Sunday evenings from 6-7:30 at the Red Clay Sangha Buddhist Meditation Community at 3315 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Chamblee, Georgia. Come join us in person or via the Zoom link here.
What to Expect
Newcomers are welcome. No experience needed.
In the foyer there are places to hang coats and benches to sit on while you remove shoes. If you need slippers there are some you may use and keep found in a basket. The meditation hall is adjacent to the foyer and contains mats, cushions, benches, and chairs for your use. Please enter and find a comfortable place to sit. Brief instruction will be provided by the facilitator throughout.
Each gathering includes a period of sitting meditation for about 20 minutes with occasional guided meditation. There is also walking meditation for 10-15 minutes. There is a Dharma Reading offered which comes from the extensive library of readings in our tradition including sutras and passages from the many books written by Thich Nhat Hanh and other Plum Village Tradition teachers. After that there is be a period of Dharma Sharing. Please refer to the Mindfulness section for details about sitting and walking meditation and Dharma Sharing. During the gathering there will be times when people bow. Bowing is not required. Bow or not bow doing so with mindfulness. After the gathering we usually stay for a little while to catch up with friends. Please join us for this social time so we can get to know you.
Tips for Zoom:
• Try to find a quiet place in your home to join. Prepare your meditation bench, cushion, or chair. Please enter the call silently and be sure your microphone is muted.
• Dharma Sharing: When you would like to share, please unmute. Then, bow with joined palms and say, “[Your name] bowing in.” Same for bowing out. Bowing in and out aloud lets those who cannot see you prepare to listen and know when you’ve finished.
