Care Taking Council (CTC) Meeting News
Meeting date: June 9, 2026
Summary- After discussion the CTC has two proposals.
Proposal--Pilot Starting in July of Digital Dharma Readings
With sangha approval we would like to try using primarily digital versions of the Dharma readings. Readings will still be available on the Sangha Schedule Webpage and in the weekly newsletter. On Zoom, the link to the reading would be posted in the chat at the beginning of the gathering. If people come late, anyone on Zoom could copy and paste the link again in the chat for them. For friends in the meditation hall, we would access the readings either on the webpage or newsletter with our phones. One hard copy will be available each Sunday. Reasoning? To reduce the use of paper and cut down on the time that has been required to print up and organize multiple copies.
Simplifying Sangha Volunteering-Starting in July -- Again, with sangha approval the CTC proposes having a monthly volunteer coordinator to help assure we have the needed volunteers for Sunday gatherings. The CTC members would serve in this role. These coordinators would reach out to ask for your help. In addition, we propose eliminating the "Zoom Minder" position if needed or combining it with Bell Minder. The Zoom would be started up but the reading would not be screen shared. Instead Zoom friends would click on the reading link found in the chat during Dharma reading. In addition, there would still be a tech/sound check as needed. If folks do not volunteer for a particular job on a Sunday, helping jobs would be combined such as having the Facilitator also serve as Bell Minder. Note: Zoom friends are welcome to facilitate and to serve a bell minder (with a digital or your own bell).
As a reminder, we have had three tasks- Facilitator, Bell Minder (time keeper for the gathering) and Zoom Minder (person who helps our Zoom friends feel connected to in person friends) There is a script or directions to follow for all tasks. Also, training can be offered before sangha gatherings or via zoom at other times. We will have the sign up sheet at sangha gatherings as well.
Sangha input requested also for the following:
Is the new version of the Dharma Sharing Guidelines okay?
Would anyone like to help with the sangha library? (Job consists of taking out and putting back the book bin on Sundays and answering any questions about borrowing books etc.)
Is there interest in holding a Day of Mindfulness in the Fall? Would you like to join a group to discuss and possibly plan it? Sarah and Will are interested in helping with this. Anyone else?
Mindfulness and Painting Event- Is anyone interested in helping to organize this neat event idea that came up last week?
Please email back with any thoughts, questions and these will be passed to the CTC members. Also we will seek input this Sunday about the ideas and proposals presented.
Community Cookbook Launches this Sunday -- See the separate email announcement!
GroupMe Pilot Continues
We are asking interested sangha members to join a trial of GroupMe.This would be in addition to the weekly newsletter email not a replacement. It is free and requires a download and simple sign up. If you would like to help Sangha try this out, we are live now. Link to join "Peach Blossom Sangha Friends" on GroupMe is HERE We will assess how it went in August.
